More likely to have been a type of cricket as we have loads of them and they chirrup all night long. They are supposed to be lucky as if they fly in the house then back out it means money is coming. They are known here as esperanza - hope. My cats always eat them when they fly in!Lindsayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10032023667222395286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-652113856727227960.post-22855093045353603972013-10-11T15:47:37.545-04:002013-10-11T15:47:37.545-04:00Hi! I think it was some sort of frog, made a sort of high pitched sound like : woop...woop..woop..woop. Any idea what it could be? Thanks!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-652113856727227960.post-77675133054573381232012-10-16T13:28:30.061-04:002012-10-16T13:28:30.061-04:00I read that Sami, and then someone brought them he...I read that Sami, and then someone brought them here from Australia! Actually the cane toad is a pest in Australia, that was introduced from Hawaii in the 1930´s to help eradicate the beetles eating the sugarcane plantations in the state of Queensland. They didn´t help that much but have since greatly multiplied and are now found across the whole of Australia, and they cannot get rid of them!Samihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06467163627586022816noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-652113856727227960.post-48088446526747876582012-10-16T07:23:56.283-04:002012-10-16T07:23:56.283-04:00eeww I am one of those people that absolutely can&...eeww I am one of those people that absolutely can't stand those creatures! Yes lots of dogs die here too. Luckily I too have big dogs and I have never seen a cane toad although I know lots of people who have. How awful for the dog though.Lindsayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10032023667222395286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-652113856727227960.post-49704126547641695272012-10-15T15:15:24.897-04:002012-10-15T15:15:24.897-04:00The one you refer to as a cane toad is known in Fl...The one you refer to as a cane toad is known in Florida as a bufo. The ones I have seen are big and if a dog picks it up the dog can die within a couple of hours. I have taken 3 dogs to vets for this over the years in Fla, none of them my dogs, and 2 died and the other survived. I've usully had big dogs over the years and they seem to have a big enuff brain box to know not to pick up these guys in their mouths, where as the little dogs don't seem to be that bright.Zwyzzlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15912183803256007345noreply@blogger.com
